Description
This is part two of a two-part audio recording of an oral history interview with John Pearson. It was conducted December 19, 1985. The interviewer is Dr. James Conrad.
Pearson picks up where he left off in part one, and talks about how strenuous cotton baling was for his employees, as well as how he shipped cotton.
Pearson was very experienced in how to measure and weight a bale. Pearson talks about improvements he made to the process in 1957, mainly more efficient organization of labor. He mentions his competition with other cotton businesses in McKinney and Sherman. He explains how the cotton was delivered via trucks, wagons, or trailers from the farms, and how he only pressed the cotton, rather than growing it.
