The reverse side of a color photograph. [handwritten inscription] New Campus Landmark - The William Leonidas Mayo Statue is a new Landmark on the TAMU-C campus. The statue sculpted by Gordon Thomas, (3rd from left) A&M-C alumnus & retired employee, was unveiled on 10/30 @ Homecoming festivities. It is a gift to A&M-C pres. Keith McFarland (2nd from left). Mayo is the founder of A&M-C. Pictured shortly after the unveiling are left Gary Finney, pres. Of A&M-C Alumni Assoc. Bd. Of Dir.; and Mayo relatives Mayo Purnell (4th from l.] Liebe Purnell, & Jennifer Hickman (right) an A&M student. Liebe Purnell is Mayo's granddaughter & Mayo is her son. Hickman is a great great niece of the university's founder.
