The reverse side of a black and white photograph. [caption] Uncle Joe Atkins after who Atkins street was named. He and his wife built the Atkins house on Atkins Street, across the street and West of the First Methodist Church. He brought the house plan with him from England, and his wife supervised its building. He used to operate a saddle, harness and boot shop south of his house, where portions of the store buildings stand today.
