Abstract
The purpose of this study was to establish a familiarity of the Trinity Valley Community College System and to ascertain how the implementation of laws and existence of trends during the study period had an impact on the expansion of the Trinity Valley Community College System. I briefly reviewed the history of higher education in Texas as well as the history of each campus associated with the Trinity Valley Community College system in order to illustrate to the reader the significance of the laws and trends on higher education throughout the state of Texas discovered while conducting the study. I applied a qualitative method using historical data. Documents, articles, artifacts, site visits, and interviews provided the bulk of the data for analysis. I used coding as a means to organize the data and triangulation as a way to check the authenticity of the data collected. This study produced a comprehensive historical review of the Trinity Valley Community College System, 1986-2000, to provide a greater understanding of the magnitude that the trends and laws during the period had on the expansion and growth of the Trinity Valley Community College System.
