Abstract

I explored K-12 school administrators' perceptions of the provision of mental health services to students in public schools. This phenomenological design involved examining the lived experiences of school administrators (N = 9) concerning their perceptions of how student mental health needs are addressed within schools. I reveal insights of school administrators regarding their experiences and challenges in addressing the mental health needs of their students. I offer recommendations on the provision of mental health services in schools and for mental health professionals working with youth in educational settings. Implications for administrators, school-based clinicians, central leaders, and counselor educators are also provided.
