Memorial Stadium was constructed with money raised from former students at a cost of $300,000. It was dedicated to the 77 students who lost their lives during World War II. The stadium was designed by George Dahl and originally accommodated approximately 15,000 spectators. In 1973, the press box was modified with the creation of five suites for the university president and other guests. Numerous modern renovations began in the mid-2000s, including the creation of new locker rooms in 2009. The original visitor's stands were removed in 1978 which significantly reduced capacity. New visitor stands were added in 2010 creating an additional 13,500 seats for visitors and overflow. Memorial Stadium is located in the northwest corner of campus at the intersection of Highway 24/50 and Live Oak Street.
