The Old Music Building was a two-story brick and concrete building used by the Music Department for over fifty years. The building was originally constructed to support around 50 music majors. In 2011, when the Music Building was finally replaced, the facility was housing 250 music majors. It was briefly used as an annex for the Keith D. McFarland Science Building after the newer Music Building was completed. When the decision was finally made to tear down the building, Department Head Christopher White said, "At times, we were literally recruiting against the state of the building." The Old Music Building was located between the present day Charles J. Austin Engineering & Technology/Agricultural Sciences Building and the Performing Arts Center, south of University Drive.
