University Dames

The University Dames was established in 1917 to aid soldiers during World War I. The group originally met on the top floor of Old Main in the Red Cross room. After the war, the group transitioned to a social club. Members included the wives and mothers of male faculty members on campus. Honorary membership was extended to the wives of ex-presidents and retired faculty members. The University Dames hosted luncheons, Christmas teas, and other social events.
